At The 100 Year Lifestyle we often speak about how strong relationships add life to your years and years to your life. They are a cornerstone of The 100 Year Lifestyle and key to living 100:100, at 100% for a hundred years or more. So, when we talk about lifelong love birds, we are talking about two people who have stuck together through thick and thin. In this case, we’re talking about Charlie and Annie Muise, both 100 years old, who just celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary.

Over the course of 80 years, the two of them have seen and experienced a great deal of what life can possibly throw your way. Together they survived World War II, raised 8 children – and all that entails. But they never stopped working, doing what needed to be done, together. During the course of a lifetime it is likely that your partner or spouse will play key roles in every aspect of your life. Their support impacts your emotional wellbeing, physical health, financial stability, and your sense of belong and security.  It’s true that having a significant loving relationship in your life may not actually be necessary to life itself. However, that loving relationship will undeniably enhance the quality of your life.  It’s just a fact that we must all rely on the company and comfort of others to thrive in life.

So do you have the type of support in your life that you need, want, and deserve? It’s never too late! However many people you have in your circle of support, spend the time and energy in developing those relationships. You will be glad you did.

Curious about the wisdom you have after 80 years of marriage? To find out what Charlie and Annie have to say, keep reading.
